A Gastronomic Extravaganza at Artist Restaurant in Bucharest
The vibrant capital city of Romania, Bucharest, has a delightful contrast hiding in every corner. It’s the capital of a country that I is close to my heart since I moved there all those years ago to set up Untravelled Paths. However, the one aspect I’ve not always been so enamoured by the food scene but there are some very firm signs this is starting to change. I want to share with you my fabulous experience at Artist Restaurant, situated near Revolution Square, not far from Bucharest’s old town.
Stepping into Artist Restaurant, I was struck by its unique and artistic ambience. The interior decor is a perfect blend of contemporary design and traditional Romanian elements. The artistic touches, including the colourful paintings adorning the walls, create a lively and inviting atmosphere that is both chic and cosy.
The service at Artist Restaurant was exceptional from the moment I walked in, which isn’t always the case in Romania but it was clear that the team had been given the necessary training to ensure they complimented the exceptional food which was to follow. The staff were friendly, attentive, and eager to assist with any questions or special requests. Their knowledge of the menu and recommendations for food and drinks were spot-on, ensuring a delightful dining experience.
Prepare your taste buds for an extraordinary journey! Artist Restaurant boasts a menu that celebrates the richness of Romanian cuisine while incorporating modern twists. The culinary creations are not only visually stunning but also burst with flavours that will leave you craving for more.
Start your culinary adventure by choosing from a selection of tapas-style dishes which you can also have wine pairings with. We ordered 4 dishes which was more than enough, especially with the multiple amuse-bouche dishes that come free of charge, oh and of course the two deserts we also had! When the food arrived we understood why the restaurant has its name, as it’s obvious the kitchen really care and take pride in what they produce with every dish having it’s own signature delicious taste and beautiful presented – a work of art indeed. The freshness and quality of the ingredients shine through in every bite. Naturally they change their dishes with the seasons but for me the Confit of Duck in Brioche was particularly special so if you see that order it! The tenderness of the meat combined with the tantalising flavours is a true symphony for the taste buds.
For dessert, I highly recommend the artistically presented chocolate mousse, garnished with fresh berries and a dusting of cocoa powder. If you’re a chocolate lover then each spoonful will transport you to chocolate heaven, leaving you with a sweet and satisfying ending to your meal. The Coconut and Cucumber Sorbet I am assured is divine but given cucumber is on my “banned list” I wouldn’t be fair to offer my thoughts!
