Ideal October & Half-Term Experiences

For those that live by the school calendar, albeit teachers or parents with children, it’s essential to make the most of that quality time with your children or, as teachers, away from the children! For those that live by the school calendar, it’s essential to make the most of that quality time with your children. However, if you’re based in Europe then finding places that are inexpensive to get to, as well as when there, especially important with children can be challenging. So we thought we’d help by putting together the very best Untravelled Paths experiences for the October half-term, come take a gander with us and maybe something will catch your eye and might even convince you to save your pennies over the summer holidays and travel in October.

The Montenegro Experience

Montenegro is an outdoor lovers’ paradise with stunning scenery wherever you turn from the jaw-droppingly beautiful Kotor Bay and its surrounding mountains to the far less explored National Parks of Durmitor and Biogradska Gora. This makes Montenegro a fabulous destination for all but also a cracking destination for families and in particular families with children as with so many outdoor activities available such as kayaking, boat excursions, horse riding, and crystal clear waters, they will need no encouragement to put down the iPads and get outside. The Ethno & Ecovillages on our 7-night Montenegro Experience offer families the chance to bond in the remote and tranquil setting, allowing everyone to reconnect and get close to nature. Montenegro uses the Euro but as it is not part of the European Union it offers very good value with plenty of cheap food and drink options available which are crucial given the expense of travelling with children. In October, the climate is generally still warm Mediterranean and of course, the crowds of the summer have dispersed making for an ideal half-term getaway. Book now and save an incredible £250 per person >> Further information…

For those who have less time, then why not consider our smaller but just as mighty 4-night Mini Montenegro Experience which has all the same highlights, just a little less time. Prices start from £337 per person.

The Transylvania Experience

Transylvania is famed for the legend of Dracula, but it offers so so much more. From charming, quaint Medieval towns to UNESCO-filled rural villages. All are surrounded by the backdrop of nature and wildlife. There’s plenty on offer for children and adults alike. On our 7-night Transylvania Experience, you’ll have the possibility of seeing brown bears roaming their natural habitat in the forests of the Carpathian mountains. You’ll also visit the Bear Sanctuary which has worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable home for bears, once in captivity, to live the best years of their life. The rural villages offer insights into the traditions and practices of the past and present with water still being sourced from wells and much of what is available comes directly from the land. Milk a cow, visit the local blacksmith, and be reminded of the basic routes of living. Then, of course, there is Dracula’s Castle, Vlad the Impaler, and how the fascinating story of how the legend of Dracula came about, something that captivates children and adults of all ages. Romania remains very good value for money, with very cheap food and drink, allowing you to relax and not worry about your budget. Bucharest is very accessible from the UK and across Europe. The weather in October is still largely very pleasant and uncrowded making it a hit during half-term. Book now and 10% off per person >> Further information…

For those that would rather take their visit to Transylvania a little slower, shorter, or have smaller children then why not consider our 4-night Brown Bear Experience which is priced from £424 per person. Children need to be of an age where they can reliably be quiet so as not to spoil the visit to the bear hide when viewing the brown bears in the wild but if they are, the experience has always been very popular with youngsters. Maybe even add additional days in the delightfully relaxed Brasov or maybe an extra night or two in Bucharest so you can visit the family-friendly Therme Spa which is a certain hit with children of all ages. Email us for further information about additional nights.

The Sahara Desert Experience

October is essentially Morocco’s peak autumn month with the sweltering temperatures of the summer subsiding, it’s an ideal time to visit. It’s a destination that offers an experience that is a world away from anything in Europe yet it is so accessible from the UK and Europe meaning that you can leave your world behind and be somewhere completely different in a few hours. Our 7-night Sahara Desert Experience is a real treat offering the perfect balance between culture, adventure, and relaxation. Children will have the opportunity to experience a completely different culture, ride a camel at sunset through the dunes of the Sahara desert before glamping in a desert tent, and adults… well they get to do the same awesome experiences! Combine this with the buzz and chaos of the souks of Marrakesh, the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (a location for Game of Thrones amongst many other famous blockbusters). The accommodations throughout have pools ideal for a refreshing dip after a day of exploring and the weather is typically perfect making it the perfect half-term getaway. Book now and get great value with a special 15% discount >>Further information…
