The Northern Lights Ranch in Lapland
Sleeping in a glass accommodation in Lapland under the dancing Northern Lights is very much a bucket-list worthy experience for anyone. However, with so many choices of the right glass accommodation, it is more challenging than you might think! After all our research, we believe we’ve found one of the very best. Introducing the magical…
Northern Lights Ranch
On arrival at the remote and tranquil location of the Northern Lights Ranch, you’ll see 16 glass box rooms scattered amongst the forest. There is a main building with a reception, bar, and a lovely restaurant. There are 4 rooms types ranging from a standard cabin to a deluxe cabin with a hot tub. However, they are all of a very high standard and very well equipped. In each cabin, you can expect an ensuite bathroom, a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and a remote-controlled room temperature. There is even a remote to adjust the position of your bed which we thought was a cool little feature.
At first glance, the Glass Box accommodation may not have the same notoriety as the popular Glass Igloos. Having slept in both, however, the Glass Box accommodation is much more practical because its shape allows for a much more hotel feel, whereas the Glass Igloos are more akin to glamping.
The Amenities
The onsite restaurant offers the perfect blend of cosy, warm atmosphere with its stylish decor, excellent service and delicious food. There are also several activities available, from Husky Sledging to traditional cooking. And since this is Finland, we can’t forget the sauna and hot tub.
If you’re keen on skiing, the hotel operates a free shuttle service to the nearby Ski resort town of Levi. It’s a only a short drive to the resort. Getting yourself kitted up with ski equipment and a lift pass is so straightforward that you will reach the top of the mountain in half an hour! The ski resort is ideal for groups of mixed abilities and perfect for a couple of days skiing. However, there might not be the variation required for longer stays for the more experienced skier.
Located deep into the Arctic Circle, the hotel is well placed to give you a strong chance to see the Northern Lights. If you are lucky enough to see them in your Glass Box room, it’s a truly magical moment. Otherwise, it will still be a worthy experience, being right into the frosty, arctic environment from the comfort of your room.
If you are interested in visiting the Northern Lights Ranch, the nearest airports are Kittila and Rovaniemi which are 30 minutes and 2 hours drive respectively. Alternatively, you can book our fabulous 4 night Lapland Experience.
